Harriet Klausner, Mystery-L says:
He lurks in the shadows of the net, leaving no traces that
could possibly identify him. He has an on-line dialogue with
dancer Monica Gleason, a relationship that turns into an obsession.
When he thinks the woman betrayed him, he uses the net and some
nifty sleight of hand to confiscate her equipment and tamper with
it. He gains access to the recital she'll be giving at the
Pasadena Convention Center and arranges to have the tampered
equipment shipped back to her. At a precise moment, he emits a
signal that triggers a device on the laser she uses in her act that
kills the woman.
He thought he would get away with his deed without detection,
but he did not count on musician Jason Keltner, who met Monica just
before her fatal, last performance. Jason, who is undergoing a
nasty divorce, fixates on her death because he talked her through
her pre-show stage fright. With the help of two friends and a
stranger, who may be a Fed, Jason takes a leave of absence from his
job to hunt down the mysterious murderer dubbed "Mr. Fluffy".
Jason's adventures, close calls, and dangerous moments of playing
detective help him ease the pain of his marital strife and the
guilt over Monica's death to the point of getting on with his own
life.
This is an exciting debut novel by Keith Snyder because it is
different from the run of the mill mysteries that have flooded the
market. Show Control is a delicious blend of wit, humor, and
action that intrigues and tantalizes even as it entertains. Very
highly recommended read!
