Ghost stories on Hallowe'en!

Spooooooky authors who will be telling
scaaaaaary stories on October 26 in Van Nuys:

  • Martha Lawrence, Anthony-nominated author of Murder in Scorpio
  • Keith Snyder, Keith's Mom-nominated author of Show Control

L.A. area authors (or those visiting from elsewhere) are invited to tell creepy Halloween ghost stories while the band I play with, The Cosmic Debris, plays spooky music and makes your voice sound like a monster.

Our resident ranting lunatic (go back to the SHOW CONTROL page and scroll down a bit in the chapter excerpt for a picture) will be happy to read stories contributed by authors who don't like to read publicly.

We will be publicizing this in the local press and online, so it will likely be a good opportunity to steal other people's -- er -- expose yourself to a new audience. Also a great, casual affair to invite your fans to.

But promo opportunities aside, this is going to be a fun evening: The venue is a place where we play regularly, and it's a very nice, casual, comfortable bookstore/coffee bar with sofas, chairs and tables, books, and munchies. I just got two gargoyle candlestick holders as wedding presents (you know you're a mystery author when...), and we're trying to figure out what color gels to put in the fluorescent fixtures for maximum creepiness. You get the idea.

The Book Grinders, Burbank & Fulton, in Van Nuys

Everyone welcome -- authors are invited to read or contribute. Stories must be either original or in the public domain. (If you don't have any of your own, you're welcome to read Poe.)

Ghost stories not required to actually have ghosts in them -- anything spooky will do... muuhahaahahaHAHAHAHAHAAHAAHAAAA!!

Thanks!
